Garfield United Methodist Church

204 Sherman, Garfield, Kansas

Worship Service Every Sunday at 8:45 AM

Holy communion held the first Sunday of each month.

We will celebrate the Garfield UMC's 145th anniversary in May of 2023. In 1873, Garfield Methodist parishioners first met with other denominations in a combined Sunday School and the church's official, chartered, beginning dates back to May 27, 1878.

Our Vision

Garfield’s Vision: Garfield UMC strives to attain growth by reaching out to families and being in mission to the community.  Garfield UMC has a Blessings Box, (outside the church) filled with food, available to anyone in the community. Garfield UMC collaborates with Larned UMC in doing home repairs in either community. To ensure the focus during Advent is Jesus, there is a celebration for decorating the Gazebo in the Park, food and fellowship included. This is a focal point during the Christmas Season. For the children in the community, bags are placed on the church lawn for special occasions.  These are picked up as soon as they are placed. We have honored our first responders. We serve outside the community by helping with the Food Pantry, Summer Food Program, and Budget Shop in Larned. Discipleship is changing lives. Become involved in Garfield UMC, change your life, and fulfill Jesus’ call to serve, not be served.

Growing Together

The community is invited to our 8:45 AM Sunday morning worship. Through worship alone, we celebrate God-given talents in a variety of ways including special music and skits. Throughout the year, we also offer special services such as Ash Wednesday worship, Easter sunrise services, Christmas Eve Candlelight Worship Service, and more. We strive to bring Christ-centered unity, peace, and understanding to many as we continue growing in our faith.

Meet Our Pastor

Larned Methodist Church-62.jpg

Tricia North

Hi, I'm Pastor Trish! I was raised on a farm in Ellis County, but I spent a lot of my childhood around my paternal grandparents' farm in Rush County.  Before I went into pastoral ministry, I was a teacher, coach, and sponsor at Wallace County High School in Sharon Springs, Kansas. My family still farms, and I've just shifted ministries through the years. We're all ministers, aren't we? Before moving to the Larned and Garfield UMCs, I led the Palco and Ellis UMCs. I enjoy working beside others for Christ, spending time with my friends and family (especially my 2-year-old niece), and hearing the joy of people's laughter and memories.

I have several favorite Bible verses including Jeremiah 29:11, Isaiah 40:31, and John 10:10.

Open Hearts. Open Minds. Open Doors.

Our purpose is to make Disciples of Jesus Christ to affect change in the community.
